Green Means Go
Informed by our corporate policy of environmental protection, Continental’s U.S. locations have made great strides to eliminate waste in our facilities. In our Detroit and Deer Park, IL locations, cafeterias have switched to only reusable plates, glasses and utensils. Continental’s Allentown, PA location has gone landfill free – if waste cannot go in a recycling bin, it is used to generate electricity in power plants. Additionally our?Henderson, NC plant uses a solar panel system to power signage and drip irrigation systems at their plant.
Annual Earth Day Clean Up
Since 2016, Continental’s Auburn Hills location has celebrated Earth Day by cleaning up the interstate ramp and entrance to our Auburn Hills North location. Dozens of employees band together to make this effort possible every year. The City of Auburn Hills provides many tools and supplies, like trash bags and work vests, with additional support from the local Home Depot and Sam’s Club. “We are proud to be a part of this community and we want to ensure the streets of our community are clean,” said Tom Richards, Senior Account Manager at Continental.? “At Continental, environmental protection and friendliness is not just a motto but something we take very seriously, from producing fuel efficient technology to ensuring our local roads and neighborhoods are clean and safe.”
Adopt A Spot
In August, employees at our Newport News facility participated in their second Adopt A Spot event, a program that motivates employers and community groups to “adopt” nearby areas and commit to keeping them clean. The first event was held in May, and after August’s clean up, Continental Newport News will receive their official street sign advertising the site’s commitment to the local community and environment.?
